If “the clothes make the man” (or woman!), then the accessories make the clothes. Or at least, they help turn them into a proper outfit. In a world without pockets, the pouch was the pockets, purse and “fanny-pack” of the Middle Ages. Medieval pouches had a very specific look and were worn on the belt, itself quite distinctive, often with a dagger or small eating knife. Based on common 14th and 15th century designs, the flap is secured with a brass buckle and leather strap.  Sturdily constructed and large enough to carry your essentials, this pouch is the perfect way to practically and discretely carry your wallet and modern necessities, while accessorizing your belt with a piece of kit that’s as “close to the original” as we could make it.

And what better to hang your new pouch on than one of our simple or decorated rosette or bar mount medieval belts? Even better, get our  belt *and* pouch package and save $15!

If “the clothes make the man” (or woman!), then the accessories make the clothes. Or at least, they help turn them into a proper outfit. In a world without pockets, the pouch was the pockets, purse and “fanny-pack” of the Dark Ages. Early period pouches came in many varieties including the basic sachel, like our Market Bag, ‘lyre’ shaped bags with metal frame tops, and  ‘wallet’ style with a flap and closure and were worn on the belt. Our style, is based on that last style made of study dark brown leather with beautiful knotwork fittings.  Based on original findings from in Sweden, Holland and Germany, the flap is secured with a brass buckle and decorated leather strap.  This pouch is the perfect way to practically and discretely carry your wallet and modern necessities, while accessorizing your belt with an authentic piece of kit.

And what better to hang your new pouch on than one of our simple viking belts?

If “the clothes make the man” (or woman!), then the accessories make the clothes. Or at least, they help turn them into a proper medieval outfit. Garters were used to secure men’s and women’s chauses, stockings or hosen below the knee. These feature a brass buckle and would be appropriate for the period of 1300-1500. The Garters are made of 100% felted wool.  They can be secured by  using an awl to create a small hole.  The Wool Garters work perfectly with our Linen Medieval Chauses, Cotton or Wool Joined Hose or Ladies Medieval Stockings.
